Pakistani singing star Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is coming to Dubai on Friday September 16 to play the World Trade Centre. Part of a musical family – he’s the nephew of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and the son of Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan – he’s a leading light in the Bollywood and Lollywood scene.
He began singing aged just 7, and by 15 he’d become a part of his uncle’s gawwali group touring the world in 1985, performing solo ghazals to thousands of people. His Bollywood debut came in 2004 with the film Paap which featured the hit song Mann Ki Lagan. He’s toured extensively across Pakistan, India and the UK and recently played Wembley and the Manchester Arena in England, playing to crowds of over 20,000 people.
He’s also a diverse collaborator, having worked alongside Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder as well as featuring on the soundtrack to Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto.
