The Experience

Tanganyika Expeditions invites holidaymakers to experience one of Tanzania’s best areas for wildlife viewing. The experience will start with a visit to Ngorongoro crater, the largest intact crater in the world abundant in wild game including elephants, rhinos, cheetahs, lions, leopards, and hyenas. The trip will continue with safari game drives in the Tarangire National Park, the sixth largest national park in Tanzania.

4-Day Itinerary

Day 1:

• Meet and greet at Kilimanjaro airport
• Transfers to Karaktu, via Arusha
• Check-in at Bashay Rift Lodge with the day at leisure
• Dinner and overnight at Bashay Rift Lodge

Day 2:

• Morning departure for Ngorongoro Crater for a full day safari game drive
• Picnic lunch in the caldera
• In the afternoon, head back to the Karatu area
• Dinner and overnight at Bashay Rift Lodge

Day 3:

• Departure for Tarangire National Park for a full day safari game drive
• Picnic lunch in the park
• In the afternoon, head back to the camp
• Dinner and overnight at Maweninga Camp

Day 4:

• Transfer to Arusha
• Lunch at Shanga River House
• Transfer to Kilimanjaro airport

5-Day Itinerary

Day 1:

• Transfers to Karatu, via Arusha

• Departure for Tarangire National Park for a 2 full days safari game drives
• Picnic lunch in the park or at the camp
• Dinner and overnight at Maweninga Camp

Day 5:

• Morning transfer to Arusha
• Lunch at Shanga River House
• Transfer to Kilimanjaro airport

6-Day Itinerary

Day 1:

• Meet and greet at Kilimanjaro airport
• Transfers to Karatu, via Arusha
• Check-in at Bashay Rift Lodge in late afternoon with the day at leisure
• Dinner and overnight at Bashay Rift Lodge

Day 2:

• Departure for Ngorongoro Crater for a full day safari game drive
• Picnic lunch in the caldera
• Short walk to the Kopje with Maasaï to see the sunset
• Dinner and overnight at Olduvai Camp

Day 3:

• In the morning, head to Serengeti National Park for full day game drive
• Picnic lunch
• Dinner and overnight at Ronjo Camp

Day 4 and 5:

• Early morning game drive in Serengeti National Park
• Transfer to Grumeti Controlled Area for safari activities (walking safari, game drive, visit of Fort Ikoma or traditional Mugumu market, night game drive)
• Day at leisure at lodge
• Lunches at the camp
• Dinner and overnight at Grumeti Hills

Day 6:

• Transfer in the morning to Ikoma airstrip
• Flight to Arusha
• Lunch at Shanga River House then transfer to Kilimanjaro airport
